The Accordian Girl: Alice McCall Spring/Summer 2010/2011

Wow. I can say with all honesty that I've never been a real big Alice McCall fan. But this collection has well and truly blown my mind and made a believer out of me! I'm always a fan of amazing prints, intricate details, playsuits and collars. This collection has it all and then some...

My piece of choice from this collection, by a bajillion miles, is the "Different Drum" blouse. I seriously can't take my eyes off of it...

"Alice McCall cited a rock’n’roll gypsy girl as her inspiration this S/S 10-11. The designer said her mind wandered to Paris, where she imagined a girl who grew up in a family circus and is now a singer in a band, roaming the city searching for antique jewellery, vintage prints and soft pastel colours. “It’s her mix of the old and the new, the feminine and the masculine, that makes her style unique,” said McCall of her Accordian Girl muse.

How did this fantastical story translate on the runway? Little silk shorts with hints of lace, beaded mesh dresses, vintage-inspired floral prints and sweet bustier tops should appeal to the younger girl looking to fill her wardrobe with cute summer pieces." - Georgie McCourt for Harpers Bazaar

Dear Selena describes the collection as follows:
"The Accordian Girls was a feast for the eyes, bold musical themed prints teamed with floaty dresses, some luxe embellishments and a brilliant mix of colours...
...It was modern, romantic, flirty, girly and completely summery" Dear Selena

Many of these pieces are available for pre-order from I'm not going to say too much more, because really, these pieces speak for themselves.
